Ahead of the SNP’s publication of the white paper on independence on the 26th November, and the recent news of the worst bush-fires in Australia in decades, allow me to bang the table for an issue which has been somewhat sidelined in the debate so far, including – and even especially – on the left: the climate crisis.
Greece has now endured over five years of ongoing austerity. At the same time, it has dealt with a massive influx of refugees fleeing war and climate change in the Global South. Unemployment is hitting 30% and among youth it is over 60%.
Living in exile in Greece at the moment, I watch the struggle for Scottish Independence from afar. Mainstream sources are almost universally crap – giving the British propaganda a bit of seasoning then vomiting it out through their mass channels.
